Operational Excellence: Blue-Collar Workers Training

According to the Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics, production workers (laborers) still hold the highest proportion of almost 30% of the total employment market in Indonesia. In addition, production workers including sales and service workers also require longer working hours despite the low compensation. In this survey, the occupations above will be referred to as blue-collar workers.

This situation of long working hours and low compensation faced by blue-collar workers is a cause for concern. Training is one of the solutions considered to address this by improving blue-collars’ competency and efficiency at work. Hence, this survey was conducted to provide a better understanding of the difficulties faced by blue-collar workers and how training could be useful for their work.
